What does the first day of a sugar detox look like?
The 3 keys to a DO-ABLE start to a sugar detox are:
pre-planning to make sure you have plenty of meal and snack foods in the house
actual meal prep so you’re not depending on eating out, and
a very intentional daily schedule to keep you focused on action and not on eating.
Here’s what my day 1 looked like:
6:30 am Got family ready for school and work
7 am Treadmill (Morning exercise is a BIG craving queller!)
7:20 am Run kids to school
7:45 am 20 minute Peloton Yoga
8:15 am School with Liv ( Breakfast: Sausage and Eggs)
11:45 am Lunch (See photo) and Work
12:45 pm Dr appointment and Groceries
3:00 pm Work
6:15 pm Dinner (Warmed a homemade freezer lasagna - yes, it’s low sugar!)
7 pm Homework with the girls
8:30 pm Work
9 pm zzzzzzzzz
Today felt EASY! But I know what’s coming . . . the first 7-10 days may give you headache, a case of the crankies, short-fused temper, and even flu-like symptoms. I PROMISE: You are going to feel so much better once the worst of this addiction is behind you. You’ll realize that there was a general yucky feeling that you had come to accept as normal, and it will be GONE.
Stay strong, friend!
And, hey, if you are like me, you’ll find this kind of Progress Chart to be motivating! Yes, even grown-ups are inspired by “star charts!”
