This is the point that you may be thinking, “Ok. How the heck do I do this thing?”
I’m gonna cut the chase. Let’s go.
Forget all preconceived notions or cultural tendencies you may have about what foods are eaten at certain times of the day. Healthy is healthy.
Focus on filling your day with healthy proteins, vegetables, and good fats - organic whenever possible. Produce washed in Young Living’s Fruit and Veggie Soak always.
Make foods savory and tasty with a variety of seasonings, salts, and Young Living Vitality oils.
Create colorful plates to satisfy the visual component of nutrition. The eye likes pretty foods, and fires up the part of the brain that taps satiety.
Make breakfast filling - a good protein and/or a big serving of vegetables.
Let lunches be “salads” of some sort. Greens topped with more veg, a protein, a few beans are great. Change it up so you don’t get burned out. In my world, “deconstructed salads” are more popular with the kids - think veggie dense charcuterie boards.
Dinners are likely to involve a bit of cooking, so be sure to meal prep in order to keep ahead of whatever nonsense may come your way during the day. We’re talking a protein, vegetable, and even bit of starch like half of a sweet potato.
Eat dinner early when possible to lengthen your fasting time. (Are you familiar with the well-researched health benefits of fasting, like improved insulin sensitivity? A sugar detox is not the time to start dropping meals, but it is a good time to intentionally lengthen the time between the last eating of one day and the first meal of the next. Don’t let yourself get hangry, tho!)
I hope these tips are helpful! I know some may be really feeling discombobulated, and wanting CLEAR RECIPES for doin’ this thang!!! So . . . . here’s the link to a Google Doc where I am compiling tried and approved recipes for a Sugar Detox. They are simple recipes, with few, common ingredients, cuz to be honest, I don’t have time or mental space for HARD in our busy life when it comes to food. I mean 6 people x 21 meals a week = 126 times that I just can NOT be challenged!
Eat well, loves!
